Symmetric vs. asymmetric cryptography
In the case of a symmetric cryptosystem, both sender and receiver use the same key. In contrast to that, in an asymmetric cryptosystem, the key used by the sender is different from the receiver’s key. However, the sender’s and receiver’s keys are mathematically related to each other. We illustrate the symmetric cryptosystem in the figure given below.
