Introduction
Get an overview of the services offered by AWS that provide high availability and scalability.
A system is said to be highly available if it can handle incoming requests and remain operational with minimal or zero downtime. Whereas scalability is a system’s ability to create more resources or increase the processing power of existing resources in case it receives high workloads without interrupting the system's performance.
High availability and scalability within the context of AWS, are essential practices for designing and deploying applications on the AWS Cloud, which have optimal performance, no single point of failure, and minimal downtime. AWS provides us with various services, such as load balancers and autoscaling groups, to ensure that we can deploy applications in the cloud which are highly available and can scale depending on the traffic we receive.
In this chapter, we'll learn about the different features and services AWS provides to ensure we can deploy highly available and scalable systems in the AWS Cloud.
