Welcome to the course

Welcome to the course “Ansible: Zero to Production Ready!” In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of Ansible and get hands-on practice with real-world automation and management scenarios using Ansible.

Prerequisites

The course does not assume any prior knowledge of DevOps or Ansible. Whether you are a developer or system administrator, you will get plenty out of this course. The most important things to have are:

  • An open mind
  • A willingness to learn

Setup required

We will be teaching you all the tools without you having to manage your own environments. However, if you want to follow along and create your own environments, you will need the following tools:

Additionally, you will have to create user accounts for Azure, Amazon Web Services, and DockerHub (optional).

Note: If you have already set up accounts for these services, you can use them. Otherwise, you can set up user accounts for Azure, Amazon Web Services, and DockerHub by following these links.

Once you have signed up, you are good to go. Let’s explore the tools we will be using throughout the course.

Living in the terminal

This course demonstrates the usage of command line tools to help manage infrastructure and resources. These tools will come in handy for your career regardless of your career path. You’ll learn to live in the terminal.

The default shell for this course is bash. But, by all means, stay in PowerShell. Most of the commands transfer just fine.

These command-line tools present the basics for Ansible, which we will learn throughout the course.
