Where to Start?

Learn about the practical steps that can be taken to start our cloud journey.

Now that we have a good understanding of cloud computing concepts and have looked at various cloud platforms and their services, it's time to implement that knowledge.

In this lesson, we’ll explore resources that can be useful for starting the cloud journey. The big three cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and GCP) capture most of the market share, so chances are high that you’ll end up working with one of these. For this simple reason, we’ll focus on these three major players in this lesson.

Explore products and services of platforms

One of the simple and best ways to start is to explore the products and services major cloud platforms offer. Previously, we have looked at how we can pick up a cloud platform to work with. If you have a clear picture, this is a good start. Pick up that platform and start exploring the products and services of that platform.

Cloud platforms have extensive documentation and guidance available free of cost. Take your time and dig through the high-level overview of the different services your preferred platform offers. Moreover, all the major cloud platforms offer free trials that you can use for up to 12 months in some cases. A free trial allows you to get familiarized with the platform.

Get certified

Certifications are a great way to familiarize oneself with any area of technology. They are focused and targeted at a specific technology or area of a platform with a defined objective. They offer a good structure to learning since it could be overwhelming to learn anything new.
