Understanding PHP 8 Error Handling

Historically, many PHP error conditions were assigned an error level far below their actual severity. This gave developers a false sense of security because seeing only a Notice led them to believe that their code was not deficient. Many situations only formerly generated a Notice or a Warning when, in fact, their seriousness merited greater attention.
