Exercise: Clipping and Merging

Overview

For this exercise, you'll be introduced to two new datasets. The first dataset, called minor_islands, has a set of 2,796 oceanic islands that are 2 squared kilometers or less in size. The second dataset, called marine_polys has 31 polygons with the boundaries of Earth's main oceans, gulfs, and seas.

The following figure is a quick representation of the datasets superposed and shows the Persian Gulf and its small islands in red dots.
