Final Remarks

Wrap up the course.

We'll cover the following

Congratulations on completing the course!

What we have covered?

In this course, we covered a wide range of topics, starting with the basics of creating a WordPress theme and then advanced topics like creating custom post types, writing custom queries, and linking data using relationships between post types. We also learned how to make themes interactive using JavaScript by adding a live search feature as well as a lecture note feature that adds, edits and deletes posts to the WordPress Database on the fly. During this process, we learned how to work with the built-in WordPress REST API and how to create our own REST route. We also looked at the block theme development feature that was introduced in WordPress 5.9. In the end, we touched upon plugin development and created a simple plugin.

WordPress started out as a blog publishing platform but over the years has evolved to support other web content types like online stores, learning management systems, and sites that offer subscription services, etc. It is a popular content management system (used by 42.8% of the top 10 million websites) which has maintained its relevance over the course of the last two decades.

Hopefully the knowledge you have gained in this course has sharpened your expertise as a web developer and will help you in your career.
