Model the ARPANET Graph

Let’s see how we can model the ARPANET graph simply.

December 1969 network

To keep things simple, let’s roll back a couple of years to the four-node network from December of that standout year—1969. Here we have one host computer at each of four sites (UCLA, UCSB, SRI, and Utah). Each site has a dedicated minicomputer—the IMP (Interface Message Processor)—which functions as a node on the network backbone. The host computers are satellites and attach directly to the IMPs.
