What is stoicism?

Well, let me try to convince you otherwise. Stoicism is a branch of Hellenistic philosophy, founded by Zeno of Citium in the early third century BCE. The Hellenistic period, which was heavily influenced by ancient Greek tradition, spans from the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE to the rise of the Roman Empire and its conquest of Egypt in 30 BCE.
